Coastal Carolina University

Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina University is a public institution located in Conway, South Carolina.  It was founded in 1954 as Coastal Carolina Junior College, a branch of the College of Charleston.  Classes for the 53 students who were enrolled were held after hours in Conway High School. 

During the Fall 2016 semester, CCU had a total enrollment of 10,479 students.  Of those enrolled, 9,747 were undergraduate students and the remaining 732 were graduate students.  These students were from the United States, as well as 63 other countries.  The student body is composed of 54.1 percent females and 45.9 percent males.  The student to faculty ratio is 18:1.

‌Coastal Carolina University offers degrees in 72 major fields of study.  Among CCU's 21 graduate-level programs are 18 master's degrees, two educational specialist degrees, and the Ph.D. in marine science.The most popular undergraduate majors are marine science, management, exercise and sport science, communication and psychology.
